Sew Heart Felt makes felted animals and very little else. There are the Mice from Mousehole, each one given a job or a hobby. There are the Sheep from Woolacombe. There are British wildlife pieces — foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, puffins, owls — and there are breed-specific felt dogs and cats, from Westies and Dachshunds to a distinctly unbothered ginger tom.

All of them are needle-felted by hand from organic wool sourced from Tibet and New Zealand, coloured with eco-friendly Swiss dyes. They are designed in Faringdon, Oxfordshire by award-winning British designer Sonia Spencer, and made by skilled craftswomen in Kathmandu, Nepal and Jaipur, India. Most stand about 12cm tall and cost between £12.99 and £24.99.

What makes them work as gifts is specificity. Not "an animal" — the right animal, with the right expression, doing the right thing. That is what people mean when they say a gift feels personal.

Our makers are paid fairly, work in safe conditions and have consistent, year-round work. The wool is organic and the dyes are eco-friendly and made in Switzerland.
